I walk past her and down the street, zig-zagging around puddles. She hops off the fence and catches up in a quick four-legged gallop. “Hey you,” she says.

“Hi Klink.”

She brushes up against my heel, dark chocolate fur.

“Did you miss me?”

“Did I miss my imaginary friend, who ridicules my decisions and makes me question my sanity? Yeah, of course I missed you.”

“I knew it.”
